good guy, its rare that dumbledore does wrong and trusting snape still might be counted as one of those "not bad" category. It could be possible that dumbledore was in some kind of pain and Snape knew that to help him he must kill him. He could end up betraying Voldemort at the last minute.

I don't think Snape is a real person, unless he's crazy. He's saved Harry's life, yet he doesn't show any interest in protecting Harry from mental and emotional torture. In fact, he is often at the center of Harry's problems. I enjoy him as a character, but he doesn't make much sense to me.
Rowling has more or less made him impossible to understand, and so she could make him a villain or a hero in book 7 and no one would be surprised either way.

I think he'll turn out to be the good guy. I don't think he really likes Harry, but will protect him. He is the double agent, as both sides know, but who is he really loyal to? Thats the big question, isn't it. JK says Dumbledore IS dead. I think when he & Servus were arguing, that Servus had told him of the pact made to help Draco. Servus did not want to go through with it, but it would kill him if he did not. Dumbledore felt it was important to have Snape on the inside even if it meant sacraficing himself.
Will Dubledore's portriat be able to assist the Order? Will Hogwarts re-open? We can only speculate until July.

How can he turn out to be the good guy? He did kill Dumbledore regardless of any excuses. I don't see Dumbledore coming back, none of the other characters who died came back. Snape may turn out to die in some heroic way, saving Harry and/or destroying Voldemort, otherwise how could he ever be on the "good" side ?

I think Snape really is a good guy and he and Dumbledore faked Dumbledores death to get Voldemort off the scent.

I think that Snape will turn out to be good..
Dumbledore had to get Snape to kill him because if he didn't then Snape and Draco would die. Dumbledore begged Snape, he said 'please..' Dumbledore would never beg Snape to not kill him because Dumbledore has said in all the books that he does not fear death.

Right now, I reckon it could go either way. When snape killed dumbledore, he could have intended it as a mercy killing. Hard to say at this time.

I think he's a good guy, and that he had to kill Dumbledore as a sacrifice, he had to pretend he is on the bad side, and remember he was forced to swore to protect Malfoy .
