Currently, a state cannot constitutionally prevent you from obtaining an abortion before the fetus is viable (generally during the first trimester I believe). After the fetus is considered to be viable, however, the states have more latitude in restricting access to abortions. (Casey v. Planned Parenthood)
An exact timeframe depends on the laws of the state in which you live.

24 weeks. Some clinics won't do it after 20 weeks though. Call Planned Parenthood and see what your state laws are. Also realize that many states require a 24 waiting period so you can't just go in and have an abortion, you'll have to call and make an appointment that is at least a day away. In the state of Georgia, they read a "Patient's Right to Know" thing that tells you that there are other options.
Good Luck.

I'm against abortion so ou might not want to listen to me,but I know people that waited too long to get an abortion (after six weeks i think)anyway ater that they call it partial birth abortion, and that's where they go up in there and take the baby from you piece by piece!in other words they rip it apart while it's still in there!!!But if you're too late there's a lot of people that would like to adopt a little bundle of joy that can't have one of their own.
Isn't there anything else you can do other than abortion? Maybe there's someone in your family that wants a baby that would take it and love it that way you can see it grow up and know that he or she will be ok.Because believe me after you have the baby you will want to know if it's ok.

It depends on your state. Some states go as far as 26 weeks. But I have to tell you at that stage your fetus already has bones developing. I want to say it starts at 8b weeks. I said it before, pick up a medical book and learn the facts before making a mistake that will cause you to beat yourself up for years to come. The abortion clinics do not tell you the truth. They tell you that the development of your baby is minimal, and the pro life groups try to guilt trip you to death by telling you the fetus is more developd than it really is. I can tell you as a fact, the fetus does grow, and develope rapidly. That's one of the reasons you are so tired. It is your choice, but I would not advise anyone to get an abortion, because that fetus inside you is YOU, not the boyfriend who is acting up. Think it through before you give up YOU,
Best Wishes, and please love yourself.

I think that you should not get an abortion unless you are raped or another horrible reason, don't just do it because you think you can do it every time you get pregnant. besides you would regret it if got rid of your baby when you got older sure people say your life is ruined blah blah blah but you want to know what i think? i think it makes you a stronger woman to keep that child go to college and be the best you can be people don't laugh or make fun of you when you do that do they? good luck with your decision and i hope you really think it over think about your future. (of how you will feel) God Bless You.

Most physicians will say three months because anything after that can harm your chances of becoming a pregnant and/ or carrying a baby to full term. Don't worry about what other people say, I am a mother of a 5 month old son and it is hard. Make sure you do what is right for and nobody else.

Legally, it depends on where in the world you live.
Morally, different story...
(Even though this doesn't say anything about the poster actually planning on an abortion, I'll duck out here to let the judging, links to sites with photos of stillbirths, etc, begin...)

After the first tri-mester (3 months along). Beyond that, you fall into the partial-birth abortion category which is only performed for health reasons and on the verge of becoming illegal depending on where you live.
