Table salt is very simple NaCl (Sodium and clorine) both poisons which together create a great substance that enhances and preserves food. It is a mineral and has no nutritive value. It is mined from the ground.

Sugar on the other hand comes as a natural by-product of many different fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, in order to make it last as a table product, it is heated and bleached. Normal table sugar comes from refined sugar cane which is farmed and processed. It has nutritional value.
