America ( north & south) ,Europe,Asia,Africa,Australia ?....im asking this cause' here in EE. UU people say there are 7.......i learnt in school that there are just five continents.by the way im southerican.

I could see how in some could reduce the number, after all, Europe and Asia are pretty much the same continent, as is North and South America (at least until they dug the Panama Canal) but by most standards, 7.

their are 7 continants. North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Austriallia and Antartica. I dont know why a teacher would say their are only 5, but look on a world map and you will see 7 continants.

In addition to what you have listed above,
Americas count as two continents + Antarctica is a continent (these are your 6th and 7th Continents then).
The reason why Americas are not 1 continent, as well as why Europe and Asia are 2 continents, is because they lie on different the tectonic plates.
