I got into a fight with this guy once (he called my friend nasty names) and i was saying how would you like it if some guy called your daughter these names etc he didn't have an answer to it, And they were being ridiculous so i laughed and shook my head - he said i thought it was funny and i was just there to cause trouble.

The other day my boyfriend made me swear on his life. I said my promise should be enough and i shouldn't have to swear on his life, and he said No, swear on my life. I smiled and told him that i promise and thats enough.

He said i was lying because i was smiling - but i was just smiling at his stupidity.

Do you also smile at peoples stupidity, sort of a smile and a shake of the head like how can you be so stupid? If so, has it gotten you introuble. Is that innapropriate for me to do?

I do something similar. I giggle when I'm nervous. You wouldn't believe the trouble it gets me into. Whenever I got in trouble as a kid i'd giggle and my mum thought I was being naughty. I also giggled at my teachers when they told me off for something. I giggle when I have an argument with my husband, I giggled when some drunk was trying to start a fight with me in a club (that was not pleasant, my giggling enraged her because she thought I was insulting her) and I giggled when my mum told me my grandfather had died. Most people who know me don't take offence, they know it's just nerves now.

Yes and I find I smile a lot.
If you don't smile, and you argue the point then you're considered as being confrontational or antagonistic. So grin away - besides, a lot of stupidity is so blatant that it is funny.
