First of all, I don't consider prostitution a victimless crime. The prostitute herself (or himself) is a victim, even in Nevada where in some areas it is legal and regulated. What about the wife at home who is puzzled by her husband's behavior and/or VD? Is SHE not a victim? What about the street prostitute who is beaten regularly by her pimp? Isn't she a victim?

That said, I DO believe that marijuana use is largely a victimless crime. Given the choice between liquor or weed, weed is far less destructive and, as long as the user doesn't use additional drugs, far more benign in general. The pot user does, however, have at LEAST as much risk of lung cancer as a cigarette smoker, while the liquor user has a risk of liver damage.

There really is no such thing as a "victimless" crime, even if the victim is oneself.

Basically anything that does not cause measurable harm to or violate the rights of another is a victimless crime.
Pretty much all drug laws, most traffic laws.

See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victimless_crime

The politically correct term is now public order crime.
Denoting that by some magical statistics (lies) these 'crimes' can be attributed to causing harm to the public in general.
It's really bizarre how 'no victim, no crime' became 'no victim in reality but the public is kinda-sorta a victim, so there has to be a crime'. The philosophy that the government must protect the people from themselves has long ago been proven a baseless position, and yet this mindset continues. Certainly it is not helped by the lack of personal responsibility among people who believe the government should take care of them.

There are no victimless crimes. That's what the phrase is meant to imply through sarcasm. Prostitution, as with any crime where something is bought and sold illegally, victimizes everyone because taxes are not being paid, no income is reported so the hooker gets public assistance, Medicaid, etc. Drug use costs taxpayers by requiring resources to be devoted to stopping it.

If it were not illegal, there may not be a victim, but the fact that something is illegal creates victims by the very nature of its illegality. That's why 'victimless crime' is an oxymoron.

First of all, something like shoplifting is not a victimless crime, because the store loses, then they raise the prices and decent people have to pay more for what they want because someone worthless stole to get what they want.

Prostitution is not victimless because the walking disease passes her diseases on to the men that come to her, and then in some cases the men's wives get the diseases. They also get to collect welfare, paid for by the decent working people.

A prostitute, however, is not a victim in any way. Just like a fireman knows the risks he takes when he chooses to be a fireman, the whore knows the risks she is taking when she chooses to be a whore.

Drug use also is not victimless, because the taxpayers get stuck paying for their health care, and many drug users harm innocent people to get the money for their drugs, because they refuse to work.

to 3 quantity it fairly is seen a 'sufferer-much less' crime. in spite of the undeniable fact that, some would variety with that opinion once you examine the lives of many women persons and ladies who've been destroyed via it. on the exterior, it incredibly is ordinary to assert "the prostitute is there because of the fact she desires to be there" yet that's no longer constantly the case. And for a "john" to attitude a prostitute, basically how is HE meant to appreciate the version? Many lady have been compelled into prostitution via 'pimps' and different persons who in result have them so terrorized and in touch that they might do no longer the rest or see a manner out. So with prostitution funds, the 'pimp' can purchase drugs to then circulate sell, so on and on it is going. /what concerning to the pimp that retains his ladies ' juiced' on drugs so as that they might do no longer the rest? What concerning to the abuse and different subject concerns? it incredibly is no longer a standard question. It has many subject concerns and aspects.
