I now got it expunge. SO when i apply for places, i put yes for conviction and explaining it... i put down... case dismiss. (which is what the court told meeh to put down). It's been three months. and i have not found a job. My availability is great. The court said that some company are able to see it and some aren't. What can i do?... I can't seal it because i had to have been a minor when i committed the crime. What should/can i do? SHould i lie on my application?

To my knowledge you do not have to disclose an expungment... An expungment is something that has been removed. A dismissal is entirely different.

You may want to call some at your state employment office and verify to be sure. You see a lot of companies have insurance liabilities. So if you disclose say a Theft, but it was expunged, then you steal something, and you were hired against company policy - then someone in HR's head is gonna role. They are just covering their butt.

But with an expungment, it's supposed to make it like your crime never existed. So you shouldn't have to disclose it.

If telling the truth hasn't got you a job yet, try the alternative. I had a suspicion of stealing charge expunged from my record when I was 20, I haven't put it on any application, and no background check has picked it up since. Of course, if you are trying to apply for any local, county, state, or federal government job, they probably have a different level of access to those things than most employers. hope this helps, and good luck.

If it was truly expunged, then you should be putting down NO. It's as if it never happened. Convictions aren't dismissed. Charges can be dismissed prior to adjudication but not afterward. I think you misunderstood what they said.
