Depends on what you are after. If you want to bulk up then heavier weights, but if you are after toning but not bulk then lower weight with more reps. Generally 3 sets of 12 each per session is good.

Heavy weights with lower reps will give you bigger muscles.

Light weights with more reps will tone your muscles more.

So, if you want big muscles, go with heavy weights. If you want to tone up, lift light weights with a high rep.

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish?!

If your are trying to gain muscle and strength you should (do low reps high) 6reps sound about right , weights between 75%-85% of max weight .

For toning and shape (high reps, low weight) 12 -18 reps with low weight

Increase weights(lbs) as you get stronger.

Depends on what your goal is. If it's to tone up, then do more reps at lower weight. Eventually your bod gets used to the weight and excersices and you need to change it up a bit. Increase the weight and switch to different excersices.

I have had good results using either method. I tend to find that I tone up much faster by using heavier weights with fewer reps. I do not bulk up but I get toned athletic looking arms.

Unless you want to bulk up stick to lighter weights and more reps.
3-5 sets of fifteen should be good for most exercises. Lower weights and more reps develops strength, endurance and the tone that most women want.

depends on what your goal is....if the goal is to look and/or be a musclebound person, well, then heavy weights.......it WILL build muscles.......if the goal is to just look and be fit and healthy, then lighter weights with a few more reps
