good metal/high output pickups to me are the seymour duncan invader, dimarzio x2n, gibson dirty fingers, a hard to find ibanez v-5, bill lawrence 500xl, and the emg hz (dont knock em, alexi makes them sound amazing). they are all high output and easily installed due to the fact they are all passive (dont requires 9v batteries like the rest of the emg lineup). id avoid anything "duncan designed". the cheapest one in my list is $50 (the bill lawrence), and it performs better than most $100+ pickups.

Personally,Ilike Seymour Duncan pickups.I have a Les Paul with Pearly Gates pickups(Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top) and some guitars come with Duncans or Duncan designed pickups. But Zakk Wylde and Kerry King both have EMG pickups on their guitars. You can't go wrong there, either.

Simple. Get EMG pick ups. They're active pick ups which means they use batteries. If you've heard of the band strung out you'll know what I'm talking about. Great pickups for the sound your going for
