I was raped by a family member when I was 12. I'm now 22 and going for my first pap/pelvic. I've never told anybody before. Will my gyno be able to tell I was raped when I was younger?

OK TUATARA --- with all due respect who are you to judge?? You don't know me, and you don't know what I've been through, so think twice before you put crap like that on here.

No.

And I'm assuming that you might have been sexually active since? If that's the case, then absolutely not. Since it's been 10 years, there'd be NO way of telling just from visual exam that the intercourse was consensual or otherwise.

He or she WILL ask however if you've ever been a rape victim, a victim of domestic violence and whether or not you're currently sexually active. You need to answer these questions honestly and fully so they can treat you with the best care they can give. Lying would hurt no one but you.

The gyno might be able to tell you are not a virgin, but I wouldn't imagine any way he/she could know you had been raped.

I'm sorry that happened to you, and incidentally, I've heard pap tests are only supposed to start at age 21, so you're not far off.

By the way, I feel I need to say - if the doctor can somehow tell you were raped, it is not something to be ashamed of. You are a victim, you have done nothing wrong.

No, sweetie they won't be able to tell. Because it happened when u were younger your body grew into it, so to speak. The only why a doctor would be able to tell would be based off the damage that was cause. How severe it was. Your cervix may have shifted too. Mine did. I don't remember the word but mine is always hard to find. I always forget the word. The only reason my doctors know about me is because I did go get myself checked out and after all these years it's still in my records. But some women's cervix shift for no reason, but my docs told me that being molested was a reason y. But, unless u tell the gyno, or she finds something that is just completely outta whack, they won't know anything.

Maybe, but only if there was trauma to your vagina and maybe some slight scarring, but I doubt it. That's why women are told to not shower or anything after a rape. To go straight to a hospital for an exam because the more time that passes, the harder it is to determine a rape. I am so sorry for what you went through, but go for the pelvic. If your doctor asks, be honest. You will feel better if you do, and it will be confidential.

He won't be able to tell unless you had severe damage from forced sex or an object. If the sex was not violent then the Dr. will not be able to tell. However, have you dealt with the emotional impact of the rape? Maybe you should talk to your Dr. about it.

No they will not be able to tell. Just an FYI but you should have had your first pap/pelvic exam when you turned 18.

That will depend on if there is any damage that was done to your vagina such as tearing. If there was then your doctor will know something happened. If there isn't then no he/she won't be able to tell.

No. The most the doctor can tell whether you had sex before.
