A temp agencies main job is to keep you temping and keep the money flowing into their company. They do not care about you, ok, most of them do not care.
Take the assignment, but when you leave to take another job give 2 weeks notice so that they can replace you. Tell the new job you have to give 2 weeks but your assignment may end sooner than that.
Lots of times they will replace you right away and end your assignment (it's all about the bucks babe), but sometimes not. And if you give 2 weeks notice they will hire you back if you ever need them. No sense in burning any bridges!
Good luck in your job search.

I would not worry about it. You are a "temporary" and there is no love lost when your assignment is over. I have been in the contract business over 10 years and the agencies sorta expect it. The "contract" is usually one way, and you really don't have any rights - except to leave whenever you want. If they really want you bad, you can negotiate something such as assisting with the transition. I can assure you the agency does not have YOUR best interest in mind and you have to let you conscience be your guide on this one. If I were you, I would not feel bad about leaving the assignment early. There are hundreds of people out there that can back-fill your "temp assignment" in a heart beat!!

I worked for a Temp. agency, I didn't have a set time I had to be with them, but I got my job through them, basically stuck it out as long as I could, then went to them and told them no more.
They were mad of course, but they are just a temp agency. I'd be careful, because they take apart of your check. Whoever your working for, will pay the temp agency a small bit of YOUR check. So just be careful.
My experience with a temp agency was sucky, and I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone lol.

Look through the paperwork. Many temp services will cut your wage for the last pay period down to minimum wage if you don't give notice.
Leaving an assignment is normal, giving a notice is leaving with dignity. Ask for a reference if possible.

Don't feel bad, the reason you are working through the temp service is that you are needing work temporarily.
Most services require a three day to one week notice to replace you. But just incase, give them two weeks notice if you get your dream job.
Temp services know when they have a talented employee, and they know sometimes they will lose them early.
