Ok, So I am going to put these red tube lights in my trucks bed, and i will need a power inverter to do it, but is there anyway to do it without using a power inverter, so i dont have to plug it in to the cig lighter. Thanks.

If you want the big lights you need the inverter. You can hide the inverter under the dash and cut off the cigarette lighter plug. Then you can connect it to an accessory fuse socket and install an under dash switch (cool).

I agree that the big inverter plugs can get messy and are pretty ugly.

If the light runs on 120 volts AC, you will need a power inverter. If it will work on 12 volts DC, you don't need one.

you can purchase a small(90watt)inverter at walmart/radio shack or truck stop that hard wires into your fuse box or to battery direct
cost about $30
