I just droped in a new engine and transmission into my 2003 explorer. Is there a way I can turn back the digital odometer to keep in tune with the new engine and transmission. Or is it such a thing that this mileage would be considered "chasis miles"?

Odometers are not to be rolled back, they're telling you right here... fraud is the big concern...

However what many do not know is that proceedures can vary from state to state...

I live in Idaho... here when and if an ododmeter is replaced the technician must obtain a special decal from the Idaho Department of Transportation that must be attached to the vehicle in a particular spot

This decal declared that the speedo was changed at given chassie mileage, the date it was changed and other pertent info is entered... this decal must never be removed... it is also a felony to remove one...

check laws in your state where you license and register the vehicle and follow what they tell you ... do not go by what anyone else tells you stay legal and out of jail..

you can't tune it back even if you could it's a fed law to tune back the odometer. i know you replace the motor and trans but that don't count the odometer keeps the track of how many miles are on the car or truck the (body of the car)

good luck
hope this helps

ps.. even if you do buy a new odometer the comupter in the car will reset it to what even the old odometer.

Mileage on the odometer must reflect the TOTAL mileage accumulated on that vehicle. If it does not, that fact must be disclosed and anyone with half a brain should assume a vehicle with incorrect mileage has 1,000,000 miles on it. ( Yes, I said Million)

Rolling back an odometer is a felony.

yes there are companys that do that. contact your local ford dealership thay might be able to do it. I know i can do it in new honda's with the honda code reader.

But this is normally done when you replace the odometer, not the motor, its common practice to place a sticker in the drivers door jamb with the milage that the new motor was installed.
