She should be examined by a physician. Has she had any head trauma lately? If so, she should be checked for bruising. Also, pain in the temple area usually suggests the starting of migraines. Is there any history of migraines within the immediate family, such as mom or dad?

First off, have your sister try to remember a few things:
--What sets it off?
--How long does it last?
--What makes it better/worse?
--How many times a day/week does it happen?
--Does she get dizzy? Faint? Does her eyesight become blurred?
There's more to this than "She has a headache in her temple and it really hurts."
It sounds like it could be a migrane, but it could be something else. I know that when I'm stressed I have a headache centered around my temple.
If this persists, have her see her doctor.

This could be a migrane. She needs to make an appointment to see a doctor right away. If she has the pain again before the appt and it hurts enough to make her cry she should be taken to the ER.

She may be having tension headaches. Is there a lot of stress for her? Family O.K.? , school all right?
She could also be having migraines. She might need glasses.
She should see a doctor to be sure that she doesn't have a serious medical issue. Good luck.

hmm, I'd say if the pain has persisted that long, and was strong enough to make her cry, then you might want to have her visit her doctor...he/she should be able to clear things right up with a good explanation and how to handle it.
