I eat usually less that 1200 calories worth of food each day, and 99% of the time I eat I'm not hungry, but just bored. I'm still gaining weight though! I don't understand! I tried not eating until I got hungry, but I ended up eating only about 300 calories every other day which isn't healthy so I stopped. Right now I weigh about 125lbs

Your problem could be that you are not eating enough. When the body does not get a certain amount of nutrients (kinda like only eating one or two meals a day) then after a prolonged period of this, your metabolism starts to slow down. The body realizes that it is only going to get so many calories, so it starts storing some of that eaten food as fat so it will be able to function throughout the day. Simply put, as weird as it sounds, you must eat more food in order to lose weight. One way to do this is instead of eating normal meals if you are not hungry, then have some fruit or something light and as a best suggestion, about six times a day. Before long you should be seeing the weight come off and maintaining.

Your body may be in "starvation mode". Basically, you not eating enough for it so it is storing what does come in...it doesn't know when the next good meal is coming. That is why you aren't losing weight. (and why some bulimics aren't your stereotypical thin people)

When you begin to eat better, try exercising. Think of it this way: input vs. output. If you take in less than you are burning you will lose weight.

A nutritionist can help a lot with things like that. I struggle with the same thing as you, but I am much heavier. :)

Well, not eating will make you gain weight because your body thinks you're starving it so it goes into conservation mode and really takes advantage of what you do give it. In fact, it is best to eat many meals a day but make them small and of course, healthy. Exercising is key.
