I think they will be better than everyone thinks. Carpenter will be great. Wainwright and Reyes proved they can pitch. Kip Wells will give us innings. Pujols will win the MVP this year. Tony La Russa is the winningest active manager.

Well. History of the 21st century shows that when you lose a World Series (not win like the Sox did in 2005), you don't go back to the dance the next year. Makes you a little nervous Tigerboy, don't. I mean think about it - patterns develop for a reason. I does not mean that things won't change, but the odds are not in your favor. And that makes me smile. So do not expect to see the Tigers back this year Cardinal fans. Their chance came and went. But will the Cardinals? Sure could happen. It will be tough. The Cubs - come on! I have watched and listened now to a few pre-season games. They are suffering from what ailed them last year. Poor pitching and horrible defense. You need to worry about Milwaukee and Houston, not the Cubs.

With a few days left in the season last year I didn't even think they would make the playoffs and look what happened.

That said, I like their chances. I hated to see Suppan go, but I don't think there were any other major losses. Losing Marquis makes the team better IMO, and Weaver got hot in the post season, but overall was not very good. Things are more settled at second than last spring with the signing of Kennedy. If Chris Duncan can improve his defense enough to play everyday, the outfield will be set and the lineup will be stronger with his big bat in there for the whole season.

Another thing the Cards have going for them is pitching coach Dave Duncan. He has a long history of making journeymen and has-beens into all stars. I think the rotation will be fine, even though we don't know who exactly it will be yet. Don't forget, we will have Mulder back in the second half. Yea, he was terrible last year, but he was probably pitching hurt from the beginning, and he had been an outstanding pitcher up until then.

No, they gained't. not even close. final year they lucked their way into the playoffs with a whopping 80 3 wins. that they had 3 dropping streaks of 8 or extra video games, and observed their lead over Houston disappear. The Cardinals lost on the final day of the season, yet so did St. Louis, so the Cardinals sponsored in, and then have been given fortunate against the Tigers, who had not performed in a week. The Cardinals pitching is susceptible, Pujols is off to a sluggish start up for him, and now wood worker is long gone for 3 months. it is going to not take place this season, the helpful is a lot extra suitable, the playing cards at the instant are not.

Not a chance. Last season was a fluke! 83-78 is not worthy of a championship!

Tony Larusa is a crappy manager and a jerk, but Pujols is the man.

not this year with a unstable starting rotation. yes wells and carpenter are solid with weaver gone and mulder injury it might be hard playing with a revamped cubs roster in your division and the surgeing moves many teams are making this offseason it hard to say

I think that is highly unlikely.
It is rare for team to repeat in this day and age.
And, with The Cubs being as good as they are now
I really dont see that happening.

Although it could, but i doubt it.

They have a good chance and i believe they will do well..... but don't forget about the other teams out there(like the yankees^_^) that also have a good chance of winning.
