Why? these two countries have the best reputation to each other in trade and such...
There was talk about Canada splitting years ago with questions on if the US could absorb the maritimes if Canada was cut by Quebec becoming their own sovereign nation. (which hasn't happened but has been threatened for years)
Canada basically has been the only country in North America that hasn't had some sort of Civil war within it's own borders.

Every one please ignore this question, Canada and the USA are much the same and the USA has enough problems without adding in another. Canadians are good people and deserve a lot of respect. You can ride on their subway system and not be afraid of being mugged, you can't say that for the USA, The people there are polite and courteous and kind. I spent many months in Canada and I liked what I saw, a proud Country.

That depends. Does the U.S. want to be able to keep hockey, good beer, cheap gas, maple syrup, fishing, softwood lumber, etc. available on their marketplace shelves? If they invade and take over, they'll have to be capable of continued production of maintaining these things.
As well, Canada is well-prepared to defend itself as a nation, militarily speaking. We are prepared to fly water bombers laden with ecoli bacteria grown in the septic waters of the Buffalo Pound region, send cattle infected with mad cow disease into prime U.S. restaurant chains, disguise our finest unemployment and welfare recipients as hard-working, upstanding members of society to populate U.S. coffee-shops, shopping centres, clubs, pubs, and casinos. We have also managed to develop an amazing military strike force, made up of Tutor jets, second- and third-hand naval ships, and our troops are outfitted with the finest WW II salvage and surplus that nobody else would buy.
So, let the U.S. military invade Canada: we have enough psychological, biological, and military might to bring them to their knees, laughing hysterically!

Just try it. If Iraq has showed you yanks one thing, it's that you can't hold ground very well. You never have been able to. You'll roll right over us at first but we'll get you running by winter. Remember what happened the last time you guys tried to take Canada. Want to rebuild your White House again?? Come and get us.

Just try it. We'd overwhelm you with our toques and poutine. Not to mention our hockey and lacrosse sticks. Heck, have you ever even been hit with a curling rock? You'd never win.
