im writing an essay for english that deals with McCartyism, communism and the red scare and its relation to The Crucible (the book written by Arthur Miller in the 1950s about the Salem witch trials). So im trying to write my thesis and it needs ALOT of help (obviously im not an 'english' sort of person, and i really need to maintain my A) heres what i have so far....

The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller in the late 1950s, provides many inherent characteriscs (sp? thats why they made word) that closely relate to Joseph McCarthey, and the Red Scare...

i feel like i need to take it up a notch and explain a little more about the crucible and the red scare, but i dont know how to put it into words...any ideas? thanks :)

Try writing a three prong thesis. Include three similarities between the book and event.

Like in both occasions People were accused out of fear or personal gain. Most of the people accused of being communism held high posistions and Putnam in the Crucible accused people just to take land from people.

Hysteria, is another similarity

So three similarities could be Fear Greed and Hysteria

Then put that in thesis form

The paranoia surrounding Salem in Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" metaphorically depicted the unreasoning fear of Communism during the Red Scare of the 1950's.
