The Hunley. What was the name of the Union first submarine?

Hunley is correct, but what no one has told you is that it was pedal-driven and had no source of oxygen. The entire crew had been wiped out on a trial run, and so were these brave men who succeeded.

Perhaps I'm a bit claustrophobic, but I can't think of much worse than being in a submarine, whether German or US, under depth charge attack. But this was worse.
