i got most of it worked out...except for a few kinks. what are ways i can give things more detail? i was thinking of putting my best friend on the front cover since she's helped me so much on this...would that be a good idea? also, what size should i make the font and how big should the pages be to grab people's attention?

Somehow i don't think putting your best friends picture on the front cover is such a good idea, maybe just give a thank you note and the end of beginning.
Adding details can be quite a complex task, also most amateur writers tend to make most of their mistakes here.
One rule to remember when adding details is to only add whats needed and meaning full, never add just anything. For instance, don't add something such as a characters childhood ordeal unless it is useful in the future.
Try to keep your writing style, details and descriptions easy to take in and understand.

Font size should be around 11 and set a Times New Roman, this makes the whole set-up a whole lot easier to read.

Hope this helps......
All the best with your novel.

That really depends on what your novel is about. If your best friend doesn't fit in with the story, probably not, but you could have a single page at the start saying "dedciated to...."
The pages should be around half an a4 sheet in landscape format. Arial font size 10 is the size it should be.

To make things more detailed think about sub plots and character backgrounds, make sure there is an unexpected twist.

(i presume you're not actually publishing this properly, so you might want to look into duplex (double sided) printing too)

Unless you are self publishing, the editor and publisher decide those things.

If you are self publishing if she wants her picture on the cover, do so.
More detail about what? You are leaving your readers to guess.

Tour your local bookstore. How big are the pages and the fonts. Go with what is current.

These are what you call details? Unless you're making a homemade book those are decisions left to your publisher who has professionals do that work.

Otherwise, you should be focusing on your story because these details aren't going to help you.

Feel free to post questions about writing your story instead.

You can thank your friend in the dedication or at the end.

You're asking all the wrong questions. Have you finished it yet? Fiction? Plot?
