Well, when they look deeep into space, they're also looking back in time (because the light took a long time to get here from there). Way out there, we see things like quasaars, which are tremendously energetic objects - putting out the energy of entire galaxies. Those probably don't even exist anymore, since it's been 10 billion years for the light to get here. I'd imagine that if you could teleport to the spot where the quasars are, you'd see more universe like there is here, and our galaxy would show quasaars and stuff from their point of view.

Your question should really ask "whats outside the Universe" as I believe it resembles the shape of a sphere and is rotating on its axis. Personally, I think it has a definite size and boundary, but I cannot comprehend what is on the other side of this boundary, as it is beyond my limits of understanding science in general !

The universe doesn't have sides. Everywhere we look is back in time. No edge can be reached. The big bang created space as well as time so it wasn't in anything.

from a percepion angle you have to view the universe as infinite reguarding our human perception it has so many nooks and crannies and direction implications as to be unmeasurable and there are folds in space time that defy description and classification.as well as smaller nodes and larger platforms. in short space=infinite and every thing in it= nearly infinite
