I am not sure how to do this, but i am going to run rope light in my trucks bed, and im not sure how to wire the rope light so that I can flick a switch and it turns on. I want to use my main battery, but the big thing is that this rope light would plug into your normal outlet at your house, so basically i want to know what kind of adapter do i need to buy to get this to work? Thanks in advance.

All you need is a power inverter with a wattage rating that is greater than the wattage required for your rope light.

Most 75watt-400watt will plug right into your cigarrette lighter. Higher wattage requirements are usually connected directly to the battery:

They can be found almost anywhere from Walmart/Kmart/Target to your auto parts stores.

Or you can see them here:

Don't use the inverter. Get rope light from aftermarket truck supplier. These are 12 volt. The inverter can use more power than is needed. Left on by mistake and run down your battery. There are some audio shops that also sell the 12 volt type.

You would need to get a power inverter to supply 110 ac volts. It would be much easier and less expensive to get a set of 12 dc volt lights
