it really is nothing to worry about. he is just doing what hamsters do! he isn't trying to tell you his cage is dirty, or he needs anything. just be glad he will be clean and fresh for you to pick up and play with!!

Hamsters are very sparkling animals, like maximum rodents. My hamster Libby continuously used to scrub herself. as quickly as I first have been given her, i presumed something replaced into incorrect. yet, I did dissimilar examine, and found out that hamsters could desire to save themselves sparkling, with a view to thrive. All rodents try this. according to danger your hamster have been given into something interior the cage that made him sense uncomfortable, or felt uncomfortable himself, so desperate to scrub himself. additionally, i be attentive to that as quickly as maximum domesticated pets are feeling unhappy, they benefit the habbit of licking/scratching.. to maintain your hamster chuffed, you should get a sparkling hamster. it somewhat is what I did. Now, the two my hamsters are continuously occupied, and basically sparkling themselves whilst this is needed. yet, you will possibly have seen attempting. Your hamster won't shield the nutrition you're feeding him, the two. a minimum of attempt a sparkling nutrition, and see if he likes it. If he does not, change back on your previous nutrition. this will not be inflicting the project. in case you decide on, you should discover your community vet, and discover out what's inflicting this situation. desire I helped!

He's getting wet from somthing else.
If you have a dish of water switch to a water bottle that doesnt leak. Or if you have a bottle get a new one.
I thought I had the same problem for a while untilll I realised he was getting all wet from his water and not cleaning himself. Its normal for hampsters to clean themselfs often.

I suggest you go to a hillbilly hamster store and purchase a couple from them . They don't bathe except on summer Saturdays. They are so darn much fun that they forget about bathing and they'll have Stanley layin, laffin n scrachin n hammin up hamster humor ,He wont even think about groomin!

What kind of bedding are you using??? He might be allergic or considers it very dirty in his cage. But hamster do tend to clean themselves a lot like a cat would. Who knows?? Maybe your hamster's a neat freak?
