shouldn't the fact none of their "friends" come to visit them while they're in say to them that their so called buddies don't care about them?

Usually the only reason to get out of a gang is by death. They are never separate from their gang, in fact they may have taken the place of a gang member or taken the fall for one of the members which ended them in jail in the first place. They are that tight. They have to stay that way or die. Sometimes I think that they get recruited into gangs unwillingly or other circumstances beyond their control(Social, Economic, or sometimes just the need to be part of a family maybe) I don't think that they had been treated and raised right to begin with, which sometimes makes gangs attractive to them.
I think that (fukawthor) may have smoked a little too much today.

They don't usually have much of a choice. I've had students who have gotten themselves into a gang (I'm talking about 6th graders) and their families discovered this. The kids did not want to be in these gangs (how horrible is it that a gang would actually take on such a youngster) and there really wasn't anything for the families to do but move. Once you are in a gang, generally you don't leave it in any other way but death. Even in prison you are still considered part of the gang.

Because in a lot of cases, once a low-life piece of sh*t, always a low-life piece of sh*t.

People that join gangs are worthless individuals. They have no desire to work for what they want, they would rather take it by force (including killing) something that a person that worked hard for what they have has than go out and get a job. Then they wonder why nobody cares about them. They do not understand that since life is cheap to them, their lives are cheap to others.

well its plain to see your asking about something you know nothing about. so they continue the gang stuff cause our system fails to teach them any other way it only stores and trains them to be better crooks, and friends dont visit cause they dont let them.in most states known gang members cant visit anyone. but you could also say why do people worship gods when they ignore thousands of years worth of prayers? why do americans still vote when the feds just lie and steal from us?
