ok i just brought my goldfish home from petsmart, i got 2 today and one is swiming around tank and the other just sit's at the bottom. I followed the instruction's so what is wrong with it?

i cant rember what kind it is but i know it's not a bottom feeder& it was fine on the ride home.

it may not be use to his new home .. or if the pet store had just got him a day or two before he maybe a be a bit shocked cause he has had two diff water changes in a few days.. all water has diff ph and other levels that he has to adpt to keep an eye on him cause sometimes being shocked to much can kill them.. other times they may have a fugal infection inside... and he maybe a bit sick ... i have one in my tank now that is being treated hes puffed up like a balloon dropsy they called it he looks like a pine cone... but hes getiin better... i know here if the fish dies within a week i can return died fish for a new one call pet store to see what they have for a policy... wait a few days to see what happens b4 useing a treatment..o heres a tip somtimes if they are the round gold fish they like some froozen peas but take the shell off cause it is hard for them to eat they love it as a treat and it helps with constipation u can feed them to all gold fish but the orandas benifate the most from it....

Some fish just acclimate differently. It also may not eat for a few days either. Don't start worrying until the questionable behavior continues for more than a week. What do you mean, "you followed the instructions?" Do some reading on keeping goldfish, cycling water, water changes and cleaning, testing the water, filtration, and diseases. If you know more about keeping goldfish, the happier everyone will be. Good luck!

Might be bottom feeder, or you could've introduced it to its environment badly. You're supposed to hang the bag into the water and leave the fish in the bag for the first day. The second day it will be used to its surroundings and you can let it free. It might be having side effect shock from being directly put into a completely different environment.

It is dieing. Chain stores have been known to sell sick fish because they have no idea they are. They will exchange them within a week.
Let's be honest, they sold you a fish for $2.50, the bag, fish, shipping and overhead don't even amount to 25¢. They got your money.
Not always the case, but many locally owned independents quarantine their fish, or at the very least, know a sick fish when they see one.

a million) ur tank is too small for 3 gold fish you opt for a 40 gallon tank and that i imagine you didnt cycle your tank i didnt cycle mine a lengthy time period decrease back and the entire tank died in 3 weeks

some fishes can stay buttom of the tank if they feel like it or theyre just scared of some one or something that is new to them first time . sometimes fishes does sleep the buttom of the water to relax . but i would just double check with the pet store is if its not those kind fish who is sick . cause can happen when you brought it least first day.

Firstly, is it a bottomfeeder? If so, that's where it should be. Otherwise, check the pH level, put some aquarium salt/stress coat in there, try changing the water and removing waste, and (if needed) ask a professional.
