Hi,im from NY and I have full health coverage.I had an accident at work a few months ago,I hurt my ankle,it had been bothering me for some time and is still bothering me,sometimes I limp.What whould you recommend I do,go out on workmens compensation or simply use my health coverage? I may need a surgery,im not sure.Please tell me the pros and cons for each. Im concerned about losing too much time at work and pay.

Apply for workman's comp, that is what it's for. Your insurance won't want to cover the injury if you tell them truthfully that it happened at work. Also, your health insurance does not pay for lost time at work. If you are hurt on the job you use workmans' comp.

use workmans comp that way you dont lose any money from work or out of your pockets
