I have 2 male yellow guppies and 2 female silver mollies in a tank. One of the guppies has been chasing around a molly as if he would to breed wih another guppy. Is is normal for them to breed if together and is it possible?

Not possible. Male guppies like to show off and get noticed.

All male guppies are normally oversexed and will try to mate with anything that even remotely looks like a female fish.
It is an impossibility for the two to successfully interbreed. They are two different species.
Get yourself 3-5 females (always get more females than males) and the male guppies will stay busy trying to impress them and leave the mollies alone.

Actually I have found many places on the internet that say you CAN cross a guppy with a molly. However, it is a rare occurence. You can cross a swordtail with a platy also. The only problem is the resulting offspring are sterile.

Years ago... Had a male guppy with a female swordtail. I know she was clean because I separated several fry out until they got big enough to tell the difference...
Got a GuppyTail brood... They never got very big, were all grey, no swords...
