This surprises many people, but there are more white Americans (who make up the majority of the population) of German descent than English, Irish, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, et.
But there ARE also a lot of white Americans of English, Irish, Italian, etc. descent. Where I'm from, most people are either Italian or Irish.
Then you have black Americans, all kinds of Latinos, all kinds of Asians. That's the really cool thing about America--you have people here from every country in the world.

German is the most common, followed by Irish, English and then Italian. Those are the top 4

I'm German, French, Hungarian, Swedish, Shawnee, Dutch and just recently, I found out Irish.

You cant classify America as a heritage many different people of all ethnic background live here and consider themseleves american. Its not like England or Germany where there are English and Germans and all one race
