My youth group only has about six "active" members in it. We need to draw people into it. We are doing a laser tag lock in and we are doing Relay for Life. What other "exciting" things can we do? What kind of projects can we do to help our community? Our ages are 7th grade to seniors in high school. What are some different things we can do?

We can't do anything with "certain grades". It is the youth group as a whole.

We thought about Habitat for Humanity but you have to be 16 to do it. We all are at least 13!!

Well, in my youth group they did a program called "AWOL" (A Work Of Love), and it was where we gathered once a month on a Saturday to help the elderly. We would go to a retirement place, or apartments, and would clean, cook, or just simply chat. Of course it toke some time to gather people, but it turned out to be a great experience for the youth, some fun, and it really blessed those we helped. Then once we were done, we would go out to lunch, and fellowship. Another thing would be to do Park Clean-ups, and then go out to lunch or back to the church to have a game time, something fun, but where you are helping the community.

As for just drawing people in, many of the suggestions are good. I would say maybe doing a scavenger hunt in the mall, or going to a school sports game.

Good Luck! :)

I was very involved in my youth group when I was in school and what we did the most was midnight bowling lock-ins. We also would help the church during the Christmas season, we would "guard" the trees that we sell and we would help feed the homeless. There are always people in your own community that need their houses painted decks fixed and other home repairs but there are also people who just need people to visit. Go to retirement homes or hospitals and just spend time with the elderly or children in tough situation. There are also mission trip that can be put together. Talk with your district leaders to see what you can do in that sense. I have been on many of these trips and it made me feel closer to my group and closer to God. I hope these ideas helped!
