Get him a UV light and make sure his tank is at least a 10 gal with one side about 80* and one side about 70* so he can regulate his tempurature. Feed him some crickets, and mealworms.Mist the tank in the morning and at night with a spray bottle and instal a dripper. Anoles will only drink if there is a source of water that drips. I think that water dragons are just about the same, at least mine is.
Dont use heat rocks, they can hurt your anole VERY bad. Use a heat lamp or small ceramic heat emmiter to keep heat up. During the night, you can put a under tank heater on to keep warmth up, but dont keep it on forever.
Good luck with your anole! I think they're great, they were my first reptiles, I had two of them for five years. ^.^
PS- they usually dont drink water from bowls at all, and you should only feed crickets that are the size of the space between his head. Pinhead crickets are great. The only thing putting a tank next to the window is the natural light, because UV light CAN NOT pass through a window pane.

i had one of those once. The anole doesn't drink water from a bowl it drinks the moister from the plants. So i suggest put some plants in the cage and spray them with water. Make sure he has fruits and vegetables every day they like that. and don't keep him in the cage for a long time take him out and hold him for a while they like attention. And i suggest getting it a mate because it will get lonely fast. Also when the anole turns brown it is cold and when it turns green it is warm. Make sure it has plenty of sun light or it will get sick. Anoles like for you to treat them nice. I hope u have fun with your new anole!!

They'll drink any water available, bowl or misted. Never put large crickets in, because they're as likely to eat the anole as the other way around. Besides, anoles can choke on crickets that are too big.
They change color according to mood. If you smell like cat (pet a friends cat and later hold the lizard) they'll turn orange and black... really neat, but they don't like it. They turn darker when they are stressed, and a REALLY stressed anole can turn white.
They need sunlight, so put the tank near a window or get a UVA/UVB bulb for him. They need a little bit of calcium dust on their crickets. And always make sure to clean the tank and water, because they can get scale rot.
Don't EVER catch him by the tail. The results are gross.
And get more. They are great social animals. I love watching them interact.

I don't know why you bought one. I have hundreds running around here for free. Quite interesting little buggers. I have a couple that come up on my screen every day and I leave small bugs out for them. I use small crickets and flies and other creepy-crawlies that I pick up in the yard. They will actually tussle over who gets the bugs! They are cool to watch.

They need high humidity & lots of natural sunlight (or UVB lamp). They like a variety of insects to eat, should get vitamin & mineral supplement occassionally. They will climb and hide a lot if you give them vines, branches, and silk or live plants. They should have about a 20 gallon tank with a screen lid or front for ventilation.
