I'm just a young girl minding my own business. The new rules of random stop and search in subways and buses...is this necessary?

The subway has thousands of entrances that terrorists can get thru with no detection. Does Bush think manning only the busy entrances is going to stop a terrorist?
Soon the govt will have the right to stop me anytime anywhere to seach my bag for NO APPARENT REASON. I was just WALKING for godsake!
MEANWHILE, MEXICAN AND CANADIAN BORDERS ARE WIDE OPEN!! WHO'S MANNING THE BORDERS?

Because you have nice legs?

Get over it or quit using public transportation. I hate flying, even more since 9-11. The whole security thing sucks, remove your shoes, no nail clippers, what ever.

You ride the subway, I fly in planes. I hate it. You hate it. That's life.

That is a good comparison when you think that a nuclear bomb can be smuggled across our "broken borders" and they are harassing people on the subway. Also, consider all the cargo containers, unguarded chemical plants, and unchecked trucks streaming across the border. A more comprehensive plan is needed to address these matters instead of these simple police state nonsense. Honestly, I do not think many terrorists will be stopped carrying a bag on the subway.

I agree..

I recently had to take a flight, I happen to have long hair, and in general wear black, and happened to be wearing a leather coat..

Every stop I was "randomly" chosen for additonal screening..

The government will search the creepy looking dude in black whose no threat, but won't do anything about the borders where the terrorists are actually getting in

First of all, Bush himself didn't search your bag. I'm assuming they didn't find anything and you were quickly on your way.

Given the security situation in the world today, it isn't unreasonable to be asked if they could take a look in anyones bag. You could have said no. For whatever reason you caught the officers eye.

If you live in the U.S., you live in a country at war. In a way, it's actually surprising how lax things are.

Most Americans forget that there country is actually at war, because for the most part the violence is overseas.

During WW2 things would've been a lot more strict, including rationing of food and certain materials.

Make sure your parents vote for whoever will end the war.

The problem is, if the cops only stopped and searched muslims then they'd be sued for racial profiling. So they have to stop and search a few caucasians, some mexicans and some asians just to prevent lawsuits.

I agree with you on the borders....not nearly enough security there! As for your random stop, think of it this way.....if they didn't stop people and check them out and something did happen......folks like you would probably be among the first to scream at the Government for not doing enough to protect us!

Oh.....and great looking legs.....yours?
