I'm off to college in 3 years and I'm a little worried. I like music (violin/sing) and math equally, but I don't know which one I should major/minor in. I want to make a final decision soon, because I need to prepare, especially since I'm thinking about pursuing a career in music, I need to practice.

Well that's the problem, I'm passionate about both of them.

Your joy of music has helped you to excel in math, and I would venture to guess that the chances of becoming a concert violinist are slimmer than becoming an accountant or actuarial mathmetician. For the sake of practicality, you could major in math and continue to study music. If, after a few years of study, you are still very attracted to music as a career path, then go ahead and get that Master's degree in music. You will be able to pay the bills with the career that is related to math, and still explore your passion for music!
Good luck!

I assume you're in highschool still.
You have every reason to keep pursuing your passion for math and music, but some passions only persist when people make them an enjoyable extracurricular type of activity. I feel passion for music too and I play the piano, but I don't think I'd enjoy it so much if it was my JOB. I still play and plan to continue to do so for the rest of my life.
Basically, go in whatever direction you seem to enjoy, but don't be afraid of changing your mind about your major or even your career at some point. Many very successful people change their minds multiple times. I majored in Accounting and Spanish, but now I'm doing child/adolescent therapy and loving it. Later in life, I may choose to do something different and that's OK.

I would recomend being a math teacher or professor. Since you like both equally, you can use math as a source of income and pleasure and as you probaby know teachers only work about 60% of the year, with the remaning 4 or so months you can expand in music. Hope that helps.

What made my mind up? I went to college for nursing. I was getting my basics out of the way when I fell in love with literature and poetry. I watched my professors as they talked about poetry and Shakespeare, etc. and I wanted to do what they were doing. So I switched my major right away to teach literature. I realized I was born to be a teacher. All the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.

Well, you can double major in music and math, but keep in mind that you can always be a mathmatician and do music on the side - it's much harder to be a musician who does math on the side.
