The main moral is to warn the reader about Flattery. People like to hear compliments, and other people will use flattery to cheat them if they can. However, it's not that simple. This is also a lesson about the dangers of Fear. People, like you and I, are afraid of looking foolish, and many of us doubt ourselves. If people act as if they see something, you might wonder why you don't see it, and act as if you do, to avoid embarrassment. Once you start faking something, you get used to it, although this story goes to extremes to make the point. Also, all the people who saw the emperor fell for the same trick as he did, but for them, they were afraid to speak truth to power, or to question authority. The boy is young and innocent. He is not afraid, because he does not know he might get in trouble.
When the simple truth comes out of his mouth, the spell is broken. No one can deny that which is in plain view!
