the best thing to avoid is mixing multiple brands of liquor. keep to only one or two brands.Don't drink a 6er of Bud Light then switch to Guinness, then back to a light,3shots of tequila, 5 Irish whiskeys, etc.
also don't go for the cheep stuff.the Quality of alcohol is far more rewarding then the quantity.
Check out the book "The Real Frank Zappa",the chapter called "AMERICA DRINKS AND GOES TO WAR" by Frank Zappa. He states that a loving couple will drink whiskey together in a bar,go home and beat the hell out of each other; while if they drank beer, they would go home and beat the hell out of each other, WITH THEIR FRIENDS WATCHING!
GOOD LUCK.
PS. eat a GREASY meal before and after.
AND DON'T DRIVE

First off, do not listen to anyone telling you to take tylenol when you are drinking alcohol-
TYLENOL AND ALCOHOL TOGETHER ARE TOXIC TO THE LIVER.
PLEASE, people- if you do not know what you are talking about, do not answer someone's question.
Now back to what you are asking - I am going to take your word about responsible drinking, etc. You are an adult and know what you are doing. That said, in the hours before you go to bed after a binge, do the following.
(1) Drink a lot of water or gatorade (or water and juice) - as much as you can stand .... don't drown or anything, but drink as much liquids as you can to get hydrated (avoid diuretics of course (tea, any more alcohol, etc.)
(2) take a multi-B vitamin (this helps metabolize alcohol faster)- this is also a water-soluble vitamin, so as long as you drink enough water you cannot really overdo it (but 2 tabs should be enough)
(3) eat some toast with honey spread on it (not exactly sure about the mechanism, but I think it helps your body replace some of the lost nutrients).
After your 3rd or fourth trip to the pee-hole, then go to bed. When you awake you will likely be tired, but hopefully will not have a headache or body aches. Repeat (1) and (2) in the morning.
Good luck :)

Relax....there is a product that is for pre hangovers and maybe someone has given you the name of it already but since we can't see answers I don't know. Now, say you are hung over. What actually causes that is more of a dehydration issue and your chemistry becoming in-balanced. Drinking plenty of those sports drinks like Gatorade replaces the salts, sugars and potassium you have lost and add a few pain relievers to that...if you can keep it down!

I was old enough to drink too but NEVER could figure out how to control my drinking nor bypass the hangovers.
I NEVER could figure out how to avoid going to jail either.
I hang with MANY of people who drank more than me and even used drugs. . . not my choice of entertainment and NONE of us could ever find the right combination of drink/drug,the right kind of drink/drug etc no matter how we tried and ALL of us gave it our very best try and in the end we ALWAYS failed and more than not paid a price far greater than we ever intended.
Those of us in AA can tell you that if you haven't learned from your past mistakes and keep doing what you are doing. . . . .
you're going to STILL keep getting what you are getting and when it gets bad enough, you WILL find the RIGHT way to prevent hangovers.
Planned drunks is a VERY GOOD Red Flag that something could be wrong. . . .EVERYONE of us in AA almost always planned our drunks though the planning rarely ever came out like we thought we had it planned.
I can give you some of the things I use to try. . . some are useful to a small measure and then again for you it might work. . . Never mix drinks. . .if you start with beer, stay with beer.
If you start with a certain mixed drink stick with it and the better quality of alcohol the better. Always eat before and after even if it is just a small amount and eating munchies during the drinking seems to help too.
When I got home I would take 8 aspirins and brush my teeth and tongue as was suggested to me. . . and not really a smart medical choice.
Good Luck and I wish you a Happy B-day but most of all I ask that you get a designated driver and I want to let you know that just as AA waited til I was ready to admit to my problem and become a charter member so will AA wait for you. I just hope that you are able to get there when you're ready and that you aren't dead or locked up.

I think the best thing is to try to have some non alcoholic drink every-other drink. Really, the dehydration issue is the most painful. And there isn't that much to be done for it, except slowing down. When you drink a lot, you inhibit the release of ADH, which is a hormone that tells your kidneys to not pee so much. So you pee like a race horse, even though you have cotton mouth.

if you are going in a drinking session is that you must eat
properly have a full stomach the food in your stomach can absorbs a lot of alcohol and spirit drink a lot of water to flash your system drink slowly it better to treat your friends when you are sobber drink one type of alcohol or spirit only because a gin and beer are not made for each along with alcohol and spirit or vodca and beer
there is no real cure for hang over the best you can do is drink a lot of water to flush your system and some aspirin or panadol before you rest

Drink Milk before you go out, When you get home take Tylenol (as long as you are not allergic to it and it agrees with you) before you go to bed. sometimes that helps.

No matter what you say, there is no justification for getting drunk. There are other ways to celebrate your 30 yrs of existence. Too bad you haven't used them well.
