I'm just a young girl minding my own business. The new rules of random stop and search in subways and buses...is this necessary?
The subway has thousands of entrances that terrorists can get thru with no detection. Does Bush think manning only the busy entrances is going to stop a terrorist?
Soon the govt will have the right to stop me anytime anywhere to seach my bag for NO APPARENT REASON. I was just WALKING for godsake!

They probably counted a certain number of people and then searched then counted to a certain number again.

What you should have really done is thanked the Cops for trying to prevent another cowardly act/ Next time you go to NYC think to yourself why did I look suspicious what can I do not to get this reaction.

Well, my girl's purse is a bit like Mary Poppin's carpet bag - a virtually inexaustable store of unusually useful things. Chances are, the cops in question need a grapnel hook to dislodge a candy bar from the break room vending machine, and too embarassed to explain the situation they found themselves in, randomly started checking purses until they came across one.
Poor sods, I almost feel for them.

They searched your bag for the same reason they pulled over my open-bed pickup truck, clearly filled with my daughter's furniture as we were helping her move, ran bomb sniffing (I guess!) dogs through the cab of the truck and all through the furniture, questioned me, had me fill out assorted forms, etc., etc., etc.,
They said it was because we were on an interstate near the Pentagon and my pickup had dual rear wheels . . . all while we watched big SUVs and Vans with blacked out windows whiz by unmolested. Yes sir . . . makes a lot of sense!

Because racial profiling is wrong according to some, it is better to waste time looking at non threats than to concentrate on where an attack might really come from because someone might get offended.
