Absolutely. It is fully worth investing time and money in the creation of a good logo as it can create a great identity for the company and a lasting impression on comsumers. Makes you stand out from the crowd (I know many people deny being influenced by advertising but it works)

And your hogsheadpubs.com logo is very good logo imo. Nice work. I might have done it differently colourwise.. as black on dark is sometimes hard to see.... but its still a good design.

Update: Ahh I gather now its an Andy Warhol design which has been tweaked for purpose. I thought I recognised it from somewhere.

A logo is (or at least, should be) a powerful visual tool. It may not evoke the same emotions that a painting or a photo might do, but it can urge humans to act somewhat strangely. Logos can encourage people to spend foolishly, for example. More people would prefer to buy and wear a t-shirt with an adidas symbol, than those who would prefer to wear one of a cheap unknown brand. Is that art though... I'd say yes, because the amount of thought and effort employed into the design. But a logo is a very commercial art form.

Hi:

I think logos are generally too simpified to actually be great art on their own, but there is no reason not to tie in a simple logo into something more artful. It could be the basis for something wonderful. Hope this helps.

I don`t know if it can become great `art` but certainly it can become internationally famous and extensively used, as we all know. I cannot think of a present-day logo that I would define as great art, but does the logo designer want it to be called `art`? A logo is more numerical that artistic.

Andy Warhol thought so with Campbell's Soup logos.

I'd say it's very possible for a logo to become art, as art is subjective it must be art to someone!

When I think of great art, I think of paintings by Rembrandt or Titian or de Chirico.

I find it unlikely that a company logo will ever have the emotional depth of these artists' work.

Yes...Andy Warhols cambel soup is a recent example. The flying pegasis in Dallas. Just be careful not to overstep laws to do it.
