Yeah the English under 20 team not qualify for the under 20 world cup, is this a time of the signs that the English league is getting taken over from forgin players and hence having a affect on the youth players coming though at clubs and not getting a game at in first team because of the forgin players.
BTW this is not a go and the English this is a genuine question, you arguably have the greatest league in the world because of all the forgin imports taking over your game, BUT what are the feelings about the youth players that are getting deprived at there clubs or dont you care about the long term future of the youths players and the english national team.
I also know that england has one of the best set ups in the world for youth faciltys but its seems that there are not bringing though any talent apart from a few names, but they are still getting no where in terms of the first team,

tmnasn that is where you are wrong Scotland have qualified for the under 20 world cup we have been forced to start at grass roots again because of the forgin input to our game in the 90's it destroyed our game but now but now we have identified the problem, and now our youth teams are making the youth world cups unlike the english, it cant be good for your game down there having all the forgin players

I am concerned for the reason that if you look up a level from the U 20 at the U 21, the majority of the squad is made up of lower league players and reserves, who most look like that they will never make the grade at the highest club level, let alone on the international scene. And it is worrying that when we went to the World Cup, we took a third choice keeper who had been playing at the bottom of the Championship, whereas Spain took a third choice keeper who played week in, week out in the Premiership.
The problem is also added to the fact, at U 21 level, that there isn't a manager who has the role full time, and to be honest, I think a full time U21 manager is more important than full national, I mean, this is the future of our football we are talking about!
Also, and I'm unsure why, but English players are so expensive, they are nothing special. For example, recently, Alan Pardew said he wouldn't let Darren Bent go for less £30m! Why!?! I know he is pivotal, but come on, £30m! For Darren Bent! Not even an established England international. And 16/17 year olds being sold for 6-figure sums. Imagine the pressure on the likes of Wallcott to succeed.
And because of this, managers go abroad. Milan Mandaric, when he was chairman at Portsmouth, said that because of the inflated prices of English players in England, him, Redknapp and Peter Storrie would look for business elsewhere. And because of this, more 'foreigners' come to play.
Also, there is now no patience in English football, with the attitude of immendiate success meaning clubs, who have money (premiership) can just go out and buy players rather than waiting and nurturing young talent.
And because of all these factors, the future of English football could be heading for a free-falling recession.

Mate - we do have very good Under 20 players but the old farts in the English FA haven't got the Balls to pick these players.
I am a Chelsea fan and we have a lot of England kids on the books as Arsenal , Man utd ,Liverpool do.
OK they may have not hit the big time yet but the Future is looking good for English Football at all levels because the foreign imports have raised the Bar and if your good enough you good enough.

You know the national team is screwed when your choosing a no.3 goalkeeper at a club (Ben foster) against a football giant such as holland (ok theyve nvr won the world cup but they are still probably in the top 3 in europe) i agree and the FA needs to introduce the rule of 5-6 homegrown players in a team. Italian serie A has about 80% italian players thats why they won the world cup. England has about 80% foreign players (thanks arsenal) dont quote me on this but i think italy has the 5-6 homegrown players rule. i also think the obesity pandemic" in england (and the rest of britain) has something to do with it. we need 2 get the kids playin more sport on a field than on ps2 etc. thats probably why theres a shortage of good players. most teams prefer players who can do their fancy s**t like ronaldinho and ronaldo, n not "proper" players who pass. being english but living in mainland europe ive noticed that all good players try this fancy crap. and this is what clubs want.
also the huge fees that young english players have (£10m for wallcott!!!)

In N Z you possibly have some expressions which aren't any more heard elsewhere, no longer even in Australia. i'm southern English, yet become in oz..for 3 years contained in the early Seventies. Visited N Z round Auckland for some hours on the way homestead from oz..via sea. yet then, what's "English" English or British English? as far as i'm worried the North (of england) is yet another u . s . for language!

The problem starts with the English setup from schoolboy level upwards. Taught too much about fast running in to spaces to try and get behind defences, and long searching passes to the runners.

Of course that approach has some effectiveness, but it is smash and grab, blunt ram-raid type football, compared to the slick passing interchanging play - with mostly the ball played on the floor to feet, to mesmorise and pull midfield and defenders out of position, to cut open defences, and then work forwards, as mostly taught in continental Europe and South American. countries. Manchester United and Arsenal are about the only two EPL teams which can combine both systems for best of both worlds - but again... combining many foreign players in their teams.

I think it's more to do with the money in the game, and young players thinking they've got it made far too early.

If you're good enough, you'll still either get in a premiership side, or be sent on loan to the championship. But I think a lot of young players don't have the work ethic they need to really make it.

I think they will be ok. The under 21 team is doing well and i follow all Englands teams and the under 20's have never had a large profile. we will always produce good youngsters because its our national game and i think that the foreign influence will eventually be good for us as every kid now wants to play like Henry or Ronaldo.

it cant help English football to have most of your best players playing for foreign national teams. When most of the best players in a position play for France or Italy its no wonder both they countries played in the world cup finals. The same thing is true for all nations especially scotland. Where there is hardly a decent home grown player left in the country.

We've still got plenty of talent, the problems with English International Football lie in the management and the coaching.

I agree. I think the EPL is being overrun by foreign players. There is no place for young talents especially since there are no young englishmen playing in other top european leagues.
it is a worry that the EPL is full of foreigners but there is no Englishmen in the Spanish or Italian leagues.

Beckham doesnt count as he is leaving.
