Does anybody find it annoying that a lot of students will post their homework problems on here to find the answers to them.

Yes I find it annoying that students can't do their own homework. It is even more annoying when people hand them the answers.

What I find annoying is that a person will ask for help. A contest then occurs to see who can give the answer the fastest. Since they are doing homework they probably just want the answer and will ignore a response that tries to teach how to solve a problem without giving an actual answer.

Yes, I think it is atrocious, and someone should "out" them to their teachers. The worst part is that adults also post their homework questions here, which might explain why kids think it is ok. I must admit I often reply to these questions, but I do not give all the answers to them. I give them a good starting point and tell the students where to look to find the rest. Students should watch out for people who unwittingly will give them wrong answers!

When it's obvious that someone has exhausted every other means to try to answer the problem(s) on their own and they genuinely have a thirst for knowledge, then, no. However, these people are few and far between.

On the other hand, I makes me want to throw up in my mouth when I see students post questions that could EASILY be looked up on the net. This is Yahoo! after all, one could easily type the same damn question in the search engine instead of going to Yahoo! Answers to have other people answer the questions for them.

For the ones who are just looking for answers, yes, I do find that annoying. That's part of why I either ignore those or suggest they try it themselves first.

For those who are looking to understand something they find confusing, no, I have no problem with it. As I've said before, it's the difference between giving an answer and explaining an answer.

I agree. Pop culture tells us we should be watching television instead of doing homework. I have no idea how much lazier students can get nowadays. It's at the peak, will be interesting to see what happens in the future.

They aren't being held accountable by anyone. It's ridiculous. It is no wonder that such a large percent of the population can't tell you where Iraq is. Or even the Grand Canyon, for that matter. There are people voting every year who can't tell you the name of their state's governor. No one is being held accountable for their education.

When I vote, education is one of my top priorities. Along with healthcare and, currently, the war(s), it is among the most important topics to examine when electing leaders.

Oh, and I just ignore the homework kids. Sometimes they're sly about it, though. lol

homework and learning are social activities.

a good student may still need help... but writing a paper or poem or doing every step of the problem is a waste of americas youth i agree it is humorous

when someone has 40 problems..... i see where they may ask for help on one though. and so on

I don't mind helping when they are asking for resources or questions when they are really stuck.

But when they are obviously being lazy, then no way. In fact, if I was those kiddos, I wouldn't take anyone's answers that they give me, I couldn't trust that someone isn't just being a jerk and giving me the wrong answers.
