It doesn't matter anymore.
In the bad old days of being closted, the left-right standard varied depending on which coast you lived on. Same with flagging (carrying handkerchiefs in your jean pockets, which used to indicate sexual tastes.)
These days, gays are more accepted than ever, and the secretive, hushed 'closet signs' have faded away and are no longer relevent.

Gay men who originally got their ears pierced did so to signify a sexual preference, with a right ear piercing meaning a submissive sexual role and a left ear piercing meaning a dominant sexual role.
These meanings changed over time with the right ear piercing supposedly signifying being gay and a left ear piercing signifying straight.
Today, there is no real significance attached to which ear a person prefers to have pierced.

It's the Right Ear. Doesn't matter so much nowadays, and I'm pretty sure it applies only to earrings

I wear mine on the left. Read "QUEER" it shows all the gay pride stuff people wore throughout the years and gay celebrities. It's awesome.

Oh, thought you meant if we hung to the right or left. By the way, left.
