if you read any good books lately, then you can illustrate the scene that you imagined. or you can go to the library and look at historic photographs and hopefully that jogs your creativity.

Draw what you see. Take a walk to the park or ask a friend to pose for you. It's fun to have a model and you perfect your life drawinf skills.
Sometimes if I'm stuck indoors I'll find a photo from a magazine or the internet and I'll draw that. Like I'll take pictures of models and duplicate that photo. You can always take photos and put your own spin on them. For example I did this painting where I took a picture from the internet of a landscape then (inspired by Van Gogh's "Starry Night") I painted it with an emotion using colors and lines. I created a very abstract painting, making the mountain and sky look like enraged. Or take a photo of a model and stipple and crosshatch different parts of her face.
The good thing about art is you can never "run out of things to draw and paint." The world is filled with millions of objects and each object can be drawn a million different ways! Have fun, take risks, be creative and challenge yourself!

It would be hard to make a recommendation unless we knew a little more about your prefered interests and style. However, one of the best ways of finding inspiration is to look at what other artists are doing. One of the best places to find a wide range of genres and styles of amateur (and professional) art is deviantart.com. Even if you don't want to upload your own works, you could still take a look around and see what catches your eye. Perhaps you'll find a photograph, a statue, or a drawing that will present a topic you'd find interesting to paint in your own way.
Best of luck!

how can this be????
especially when inspiration abounds around you,
look at the person next to you,see the pretty girl sitting at the corner, watch the children playing in the streets, the old man sitting on the bench at the park, the cracks on the bricks in the building in front of you ,see the richness of life around you and the textures of things around you.
you, my artist friend need to teach yourself to see, to look for the unusual in the usual hustle and bustle of life, to seek inspriation in the usual as well in the unusual.
what you seek is there for you,
what you need to learn is how to see.
God bless,
gabe

Blindly point to a word in the dictionary(or whatever) and paint whatever comes to mind when you read it. You're not using your imagination and this should jump-start it. Don't dwell on the meaning but on what comes to mind visually at the moment you read it.

Do something else for a while. Don't just churn out art.
