Before I took the real SAT's I practiced for about 2 summers with 2 books, one was the College Board's offical SAT Practice Book, and I started scoring around 2000. I was happy, confident, and hopeful that I would score the same on the real thing. But on Test Day, I ended up scoring 1800. I was so disappointed in myself. How come I did so bad on the real day when I scored a 2000 while practicing? How can I improve next time when I take it?

it is important to practice under real test taking conditions. See if there are any courses in your area offering a prectice test that you can take which is administered just like the real SAT. Then you will be more used to the environment, and be able to work on the real SAT with less stress

If you were regularly scoring 2000's on practice tests, then your 1800 should have been a fluke. Unfortunately, flukes occur, and test days are not always your best days. If you were extremely anxious or overconfident, it could have thrown your concentration. Try to put yourself in the mindset that you usually are in when you take the practice SATs, and you will probably score closer to what you are used to.

Relax. Many students have similar experiences. Statistically, you'll raise your score by taking it a second time. In the meantime, continue to study, practice, etc. The night before the exam, get a good night's sleep, arrive at the test site early and RELAX.

1800 is average 600 on each exam and that's competitive for most colleges across the U.S.

Good luck!
