When I was a kid in Asia I was taught there were 7
1) Asia
2)Australasia
3) Europe
4)Africa
5)North America
6) South America
7) Antarctica
In Eastern Europe where I later lived I was told that they were taught there were 6. In fact the Russian method seems sensible as they consider Europe and Asia to be one termed Eurasia. Technically since a continent is an extremely large land mass surrounded by water, then the term Eurasia is true because no significant body of water divides Europe and Asia.
The Suez canal separates Africa from Asia
The Panama Canal South America from North America.

1. What is "southerican"?
2. It depends on how you count them. If you count Asia and Europe separately, there are seven. If you count them as one, there are six. They are (1) North America, (2) South America, (3) Europe, (4) Asia, (5) Africa, (6) Australia, and (7) Antarctica.

your additional details contradict your original question as you list 6 continents.
Antartica is a continent of land mass - not like the northern ice cap which is just that - and ice cap. Antartica is land mass covered with ice and snow - the 7th continent.
