I am a female hockey player and I can't stand playing hockey without checking. What's the point of having a contact sport if you can't well.......have contact. There is no reason why a boy can take a hit and not a girl. Some people say, "Girls are not as tough", even if that is true that means the hits wouldn't be as hard. To me it makes no sense, I'm sure many female hockey players would like checking.

I have played hockey for YEARS now (always with the boys) and I have always played in a checking league. To be quite honest, it wouldn't be the same to play in a non-checking league. Especially with the boys! My theory growing up has always been to try and get all the boys to treat me as their equals, which means they check me just like they would any other player out on the ice.

Please forgive me if I sound ignorant asking this question, but is there a rule that states that "Women Hockey Players" can't check? If there isn't, then I don't see what the issue would be. Checking and hitting has always been a part of the game, and why it should be limited to men only isn't justified at all.
So have a ball (or puck), and check to your heart's content. :-)

yes, girls should be allowed to check because its part of the game. They have special pads made for women, Shoulder and chest pads. Now if the girl is playing in a league with boys or men then the answer is hell yes. I played in a ice hockey league where boys couldn't check girls but they were allow to check us. it's part of the game which some people love watching hitting and checking.

If they want to play in a checking league, sure...I'm sure someone like Hailey Wickenheiser wouldn't have a problem with it...
Size difference doesn't matter much when you consider players like Theo Fleury or Martin St. Louis going up against the big guys like Chara and Pronger in the league...

By checking i suppose you mean body-checking/hitting. and i say why not? contact is part of the game - you can't get away from it. when you're going about 20-40MPH on ice, you can't really get out of the way sometimes. if that's the case, one might as well learn how to hit properly & brace for a hit properly & let the girls go at it.
otherwise, it's dangerous if the girls are taught properly and an accidental hit occurs.

Sure why not? I mean come on it is part of the game. If the girl can't take it she can stop playing. If they don't want to check then just don't check. I say allow them to play like the men or let them decide how they want to play.
