What is a good activity to promote awareness of poverty?

Hey, I'm participating in a "food fast" to promote the awareness of poverty in the world. There's a group of about 40 teenage kids attending. Does anyone know of a good group activity that would promote the awareness of this subject?

The activity should be about 5-15mins long

I am not joking or trying to be obtuse, but do it. Pick up after yourself,

and....

have a garden, give ten percent to God, do not fear for your health or the latter part of your life, put ten percent into savings, VOTE, pay attention to where your clothes and food comes from,

that toy from mexico does not help mexico economy, and neither does shipping our grain there....they wind up with batteries and their subsitence farmers can not substain.

OUR industrial complex keeps us rich, so that we can defeat the axis of evil... you must accept that this.

Come up with ways for your generation to combat evil, number one you can claim goodness and Love.

You see poverty only when you can do nothing for the person you see being poor, but do not judge them. They may be Rich at heart. You too can be rich at heart.

The last time I gave to the poor it was a pencil and paper, and he smiled, my friends gave him money and he said thank you....I played banjo on the money and made $1.75....Who lives in poverty? Only the people that do work for you, through cash exchange from a different country.

In this country under this monetary system we can barter, it is a market economy, other countries are illegal dictatorships even if they claim democracy.... that i why we buy American goods, because we are not screwing ourselves, and if it were up to US no one would get screwed... the tide is turning and we are becoming aware!!!! have no fear, but practice making clothing, or be a blacksmith, do a trade that cannot be exported, question the manufacturing market...


Q.When does value change so quickly that the time it takes to do a cost benefit analysis is no longer worth the time?
A. In the ammount of time a handshake, a smile, and a friendship gets forged.

Have kids from your school paper interview employees from local homeless shelters, and publish the reports in the next edition of the school paper.

watch tv news, you kids fast to make your selfs look better. you want to do something collect food and give it to someone you see that is in need. that will make a better point.fasting just says look at me i am doing something for you to see .have you ever eat beans for a mounth not to say look at me but because it was all you had.no one cares that you will not eat because it is a choise you make.
