The Constitution describes the proper functioning of the branches of govt. Those branches at times are to provide stimulus in the form of programs to maintain the needs of the people. It was never intended to be a means unto itself. And it was never intended to exploit the peoples tax revenues for personal corporate gain.

Under the current regime of GWB-Cheney America resembles a military dictatorship. With the majority of the Govt. budget going to prop up the military establishment. This form of Govt. does not resemble any chararcteristics of a free market economy, but just the opposite resembles an abuse of the authority of public office.

Six characteristics are as follows:
Private Property
Freedom of Enterprise and Choice
Motive of Self-interest
Competition
Markets and Prices
Limited Role of Government

The constitution allowed for a "free market system" which allows for supply and demand economics rather than a controlled economy as set by the aristocracy.

The Constitution provided free enterprise in the US prompting the people to establish privately owned companies that made goods products making the US an economic success.

The market economy is affected by government, investments, labor, immigration and ideologies.

Bare with me, here.

The Constitution has drastically shaped our economy with the 16th Amendment. This Amendment, which was illegally passed, gives the power of printing money to a private, corporate entity--Federal Reserve. This entity is no more federal than Federal Express. Now, we have to pay interest to print our own money. Every penny collected by the income-tax goes into paying the INTEREST on our "loans" from the Federal Reserve.

Honestly, I can't answer the 2nd part of your question.

Yeah..that sounds like that's your homework. I have a feeling the "6 characteristics" will only be found in the textbook that you're using in class.
