Children sometimes do not get along with their parent. Neither Christians or Muslims have gotten along with the Hebrews. Siblings seldom get along with each other all the time. Neither Christians or Muslims have gotten along with their siblings of the Old Testament.
In modern terms it is a dysfunctional family.

I guess in the middle east there is lot of political turmoil which affects the thinking of the people. Here in the US, approaches changes. In a tolerant society, you become tolerant yourself.

It's because we have freedom of religion guaranteed by the Constitution and no nationally sanctioned religion. The rest of the world should try it.
