Hello- I am trying to get into Jimi Hendrix, and I was wondering what CD I should start out with. I don't like "Best of.." Cd's, and I want an actual album, so which one would you say is his best or a classic one?
ANy other artists you recommend too?

i'd have to go with "are you experienced?". released in 67, it basically is a greatest hits album because its so good. its a pity he died so young.

Drenched in echo, panning from left to right every two seconds, howling feedback -- nothing had ever sounded this far out and blown apart. On top of it all there was this big black guy doing things with his guitar that seemed...dirty. Jimi changed the rules with this one."

How about Axis: Bold As Love? That's a really good album, but they all are really! Jimi Hendrix is legendary, and for good reason.

Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, The Zombies, The Doors, Elton John, The Who, Guess Who, Jethro Tull, Jefferson Airplane, Joan Baez, Simon and Garfunkel, Rush, Yes, Steve Miller Band, Terry Jacks, Tom Petty, The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, Cat Stevens.....there are too many to list!

Definitely start with "Are You Experienced" featuring some of his best known songs. His talent was incredible.
Other artists: Stevie Ray Vaughn, Santana, Allman Brothers Band, and if you really want to get to the roots of their music: John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf
