My feet hurt due to fallen arches and arthritis. I wear custom made orthotics, and a good athletic shoe with a wide toe box. My favorite brands are Nike, New Balance, and Avia. I might have to try on a half-dozen pairs - or more - until I find some that feel comfortable.
