It was about as 'accidental' as the time Christian Laetner stepped on the stomach of an opposing ball player who had fallen on the floor.
Duke plays dirty ball. I guess they call it intimidation tactics.
Accidental? No way, no how. But met with the approval of the coaching staff.

Here's what Roy Williams said
On Coach Krzyzewski suggesting that the team's starters should not have been in the game when Tyler Hansbrough was fouled:
"I don't understand that - I mean both teams had `em in. I was sitting in the stands my first - the only game I saw when I was first here as a high school coach - we win and beat Duke and we were down by eight with 17 seconds to play. I don't even know how much time was left when it happened. And in fact we had a substitute up at the free throw line - if you want to go back and look at that. If you go back and look Michael Copeland was sitting up at the free throw line cause I was trying to Tyler out of the game. It's not my fault that Tyler got the offensive rebound and somebody else missed the sucker. But that is enough said about that junk."
End quote. It was obvious that Coach K didn't think the game was over and Henderson wanted to commit a hard foul.

I don't see how anyone who isn't a Duke homer thinks that was accidental. It is obvious on the replay that Henderson went up, then after going up with his hand brings his arm down and elbows Hansborogh on the bridge of the nose. Henderson should be suspended for the entire ACC tournament, and if not that definitely more than one game.

It really is hard to tell his intent, even from the replay. The real question is....WHAT THE HELL WAS COACH K DOING????? His team was down by 11 with less than 30 seconds left. UNC could have simply dribbled out the clock, and the game would have been over. Instead, Coach K was having his guys press and foul, and all of that nonsense. And, as a result, UNC's best player got busted up, and Duke now has a player suspended. Coach K was responsible for what happened, so he's getting what he deserved....

It was totally intentional. First, if you watch the replay, the ball was far from hansbrough and henderson when henderson hit him. Also henderson followed through really hard, and you could tell by his face that he meant to do it. Lastly, nobody would go up that hard for a rebound that he had no chance of getting, losing by 12 with 14 seconds left. He obviously went up with an intention to hurt somebody and he got what was coming for him with a suspension. If Coach K has any class at all, henderson wont play for the whole ACC tournament.

I'm a UNC fan & I dont think it was intentional. This is a good kid & his best friend(wayne ellington) plays for UNC so I think he would do anything intentioanl. The ACC should look into it because this could really hurt Duke in the tournament. Best of luck to Henderson.

That was no accident. He decked him on purpose. Pretty easy to see. He should be suspended for a game, hopefully it costs Duke a seed or 2.

I think it was intentional, and the officials did the right thing. As much as I can't stand Duke, I have the utmost respect for Coach K; he's a class act. I'm sure he'll study the foul a lot closer than we will and will handle the situation properly.

It's the most intentional thing I ever saw. Anyone who has ever associated themself with Duke is gonna burn in Hell. And for those who keep saying UNC was trying to run up the score, and Hansbrough should not have been in the game, F*** YOU!!!!!!
It was all Duke's and Coach K's fault. They were the ones pressing full court, they were the ones fouling with 17 seconds left, they were the dumb b*tches calling timeouts and shooting threes in the last minute of the game. GO TO HELL DOOKIES!!!

All I know is that coach Roy, coach K, Tyler, and Hendrix just want to forget it. What happens on their court, STAYS on their court. Now... as for us, we get to chat and guess if it was on purpose or not because we'll never know. All Tarheel fans show just hope for the best with Tyler's nose. And according to Wayne, Hendrix is a good guy. We can't help decide if he should be suspended. sorry
