I am 37and a half weeks pregnant with gestational diabeties. I only take insulin once a day (20 minutes before breakfast-30/70 humalin). Recently (the past two days) I have been vomiting about two hours after a meal. Right before I vomit I have terrible pain under my sternum and into my back. As soon as I vomit, I feel much better. It does not matter if the meal is small or big- my blood sugar seems to be fine ( in the right range, although a little low after I vomit, but not in the danger zone). Is there anyone who has had a similar thing happen?
By the way, I am fully effaced and 1cm dialated (at last check a week ago); I am not having regular contractions and they are not strong or terribly uncomfortable. This is my first child.

I have had my gall bladder checked- and it is fine by the blood test.

I would definitely call the dr! It could be a type of pre-eclampsia called HELLP syndrome. It doesn't involve high blood pressure, but increased liver enzymes. They can verify it by blood test, checking the AST and ALT levels, as well as platelets. Good luck!

My mother had gestational diabetes with her last child and it turned into typeII diabetes after she had the baby and I remember her being sick alot but I am not sure about the pain..

you are very close to your due date and pain is normal in alot of woman at the very end ,I do know the vomiting can cause dehydration which can lead to contractions and sometimes an early arrival..I think if you haven't already mentioned this to your doctor(about the vomiting and pain) you should tell him or her right away..I hope everything goes well for you and congradulations on your soon to be little one

Well I cannot honestly tell you I have had Diabetes, but it does run in my father's side of the family. I strongly suggest calling your doctors office and getting ahold of them. You said your last check was last week and you were preparing for labor, since you are not feeling well and vomitting after eating there may be a higher risk of something else gone wrong, not persay with the baby but maybe with your health.
I would call them and see if they have an answering service and leave message for them to return a call to you immediately. This is some cause for concern.

call your dr immediately!! You don't want to risk anything this late in the game. I went into the hosp with nothing more then being restless and go to find was 5 cm dialated and 50% efaced everyone and every time is not the same and does not have the same symptoms

some women get sick before delivery so it may be that simple but i would also be a little concerned about your gall bladder which can cause your symptoms as well.

Sounds like it may be gall bladder or hiatel hernia. Either way, see your doctor.

Keep yourself hydrated whatever you do, you dont need added complications at time of delivery. Go see your doctor, better safe then sorry. gl...hope all goes well!
